The Investment Board:
Investment Year Approaches:
Top lists on 50 viable projects:
The Board CEO says, they are about to finalize their rules & regulations, which will provide the board a legal ground. Also investment board is coming with Investment year approaches.
Investment Year Approaches:
1st: Coming up with comprehensive but very transparent incentive framework, which can be shared. So the investors also know that where they are getting into.(Conducting Research on the modality for the incentives & also studying International model)
2nd: Trying to come up with a "benefit-cost" model for various project. (Which will help Board to determine how much incentive they can give to the investors)
3rd: Board is working for an "investor tracking mechanism" that will give the Board the financial and other relevant data of investors(like how much investor has invested, where they have invested). It will help the Board, where they really need to improve.
Top lists on 50 viable projects:
- Infrastructure
- Minerals & Mines
- Agriculture & Agro processing
- Hydropower
- Tourism
- Other service sectors like Education, Health & Information, Communication & Technology. Other sectors will be finalized very soon.
As investment is the continuous process, and making the investment year for a mere fiscal makes no sense at all. Investors face problems once investment is made and they should be helped during the process. The Board will be responsible to exist in the long run so as to give post-investment services. Two models to serve investors.
- As a facilitator, Board will have investment relationship officer, these officers will knock the door of agencies to get the projects registered & create necessary groundwork before setting their projects office.
- Board has conceptualized different desks from several agencies which the investors need to visit during their investment registration.
For all above most of the acts regarding labor and the industrial sector needs prompt reforms. For the competitive market investment all need to have refined acts & policies governing the industrial sector. The Board already formed a sub-committee to coordinate with the respective government agencies for this.

As the international community, the major donor countries are very much concern with the planning of Investment Board. We have Big sources of renewal energy and also have further big opportunities in the Tourism sector with our charming Nature Beauty. US President Obama's call on congress to invest more money in clean energy sector and end multi-billion dollar subsidies given each year to oil companies, that may lead the future global investment on energy sector will be for the renewal energy, like Hydro power. Nepal can be the leader of clean-energy in our region with the rising demand of electricity in South Asia.
Each and every Nepali around the globe (from WALING to WASHINGTON -- OWLANGCHUNG to OSLO) should be willing to have Shares of Big Hydropower projects. They must be forced to invest with Big-Hope. The future planning & policy of the Board must be focused on all this. With 20-year Vision we can achieve all this. But for the "Big-Hope" the Eco-Political environment should be in favor, then only we can create a huge capital from everywhere, everyone.
